In accordance with 20 U.S.C. 1416(b)(1) of Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA or Part B), North Carolina has in place a Part B State performance plan (Part B – SPP) that evaluates the State’s efforts to implement the requirements and purposes of Part B and describes how the State will improve such implementation. In accordance with 20 U.S.C. 1416(b)(2)(C)(ii) and 34 CFR §300.602, North Carolina must report annually to the public on the performance of each local educational agency (LEA) located in the State on the targets in its Part B – SPP.  The LEA annual performance reports are available here.

In addition, the state must make an annual determination for each LEA’s performance based on the performance reports using the following ratings: Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance,  Needs Intervention and  Needs Substantial Intervention.
